Evan Thomas Byron is an experienced attorney based in Cleveland, Ohio, specializing in litigation and transactional law. Born on May 25, 1980, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Evan grew up in Carmel, Indiana. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in History, with a minor in Spanish, from Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis in 2002. While in college, Evan earned a spot on The National Dean’s List and contributed to the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity’s Finance Committee, demonstrating his early commitment to leadership and law. He continued his education at Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, earning his Juris Doctor degree in 2006. At Case Western, Evan was a Jonathan M. Ault Mock Trial Team member and served as Vice President of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity. His inclusion on the Dean’s List further recognized his academic efforts.

Following law school, Evan began his career with Kaufman, Drozdowski & Grendell, LLC, where he focused on various legal matters, including business disputes, bankruptcy, real estate transactions, and probate law. Evan expanded into transactional work as his practice grew, handling mergers and acquisitions and providing general counsel services. His contributions were recognized, and 2017, he became a partner at the firm. Before Kaufman, Drozdowski & Grendell, Evan worked as Of Counsel at Lieberman, Dvorin & Dowd, LLC, where he gained expertise in business and commercial litigation, creditors’ rights, and real estate law.

Evan Byron, a Cleveland lawyer, also served as a non-equity partner at Chernett Wasserman, LLC, from 2009 to 2016, where he managed the firm’s litigation practice. His role included overseeing commercial disputes, bankruptcy, real estate, leasing, and employment law cases. Evan successfully handled a large volume of cases, often managing over fifty active litigation matters at any given time, showcasing his ability to handle high-pressure situations while maintaining a high standard of legal service.

Throughout his career, Evan has achieved notable success in the courtroom. One of his most significant achievements was in 2010, when he successfully argued a case before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, leading to a $15.6 million verdict for his client. In 2016, he secured another major trial victory, further solidifying his reputation as a capable litigator. His professional qualifications include bar admissions in Ohio and federal courts, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States District Courts for both the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio.

Evan has been an active participant in his local and professional communities. He has been a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association since 2006. Evan has served on the Executive Council of the Young Lawyers Section and the Membership Committee within the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. He has also contributed to developing the legal profession as a high school mock trial instructor and a Task Force on Judicial Excellence member.

In addition to his legal work, Evan serves as a board member of the Cuyahoga County Debarment Review Board, where he helps maintain the integrity of the legal profession. He is also a member of the Cleveland Racquet Club, where he enjoys playing tennis to relax and connect with others.
